Established in 1986 by Russ Barnett, a lifelong horse lover and packer, Outfitters Supply began as a small company in Columbia Falls, Montana looking to provide practical solutions for the everyday challenges encountered by trail riders and horse packers. Originally designed to be a retail store catering to locals, Outfitters Supply saw the need to reach people outside of its geographical area.

Outfitters Supply, the makers of the TrailMax brand, has long been the leader in the western saddle bag market. We have always made traditional leather saddle bags, and then started making the TrailMax western saddle bags over 25 years ago because we couldn't find lightweight nylon saddle bags that worked well for both horse and rider.

Halters & Leads

We have a wide variety of mule, draft, and horse halters and lead ropes from the best equine manufacturers in the US. When we couldn't find exactly what we wanted, we made it ourselves (such as our TrailMax Mule Halters, TrailMax Packer's Halter, and Packer's Lead Ropes). We have rope halters designed for training, as well as some that are lightweight and made for going under bridles for trail riding.
