For more than 60 years, CNS has been helping children grow and learn together in a joyful, playful environment. We have three different classrooms for children ages 2, 3, and 4, and our program runs from September to June. While the main program is from 9am-12pm, we also offer options for early drop off, lunch until 1pm, or extended day until 3pm.

CNS is proud to use a co-op model, where parents and teachers work together to build a wonderful, caring community for our children. We hope you will join us! The CNS preschool program has been licensed as a New York State Child Day Care Center since 1997. Our license helps to ensure our children's safety by requiring our adherence to the highest public health and safety standards.

Our Philosophy
Report
We believe that children's work is play and that playful learning supports imagination, creativity, curiosity, and a child's innate sense of adventure. In addition to this, play-based classrooms create positive associations to learning that will serve children well in the long run. Our excellent teachers observe the children, facilitate social interactions, and may intervene to extend children's thinking or enrich their language.
The Co-op Model
Report
A cooperative preschool is a great way to be involved in your child's earliest education experience. As you spend time in the classroom and work with other families on school projects, you'll get to know them and gain a sense of community that is often missing in other types of schools. The children benefit when you bring your unique gifts and talents to the classroom.
Our Space
Report
CNS is located in Cayuga Heights within a half-mile of Cornell University. We are on a TCAT bus route and many of our families choose to walk or bike. We occupy the lower level of the First Congregational Church, on a quiet street in a residential neighborhood. Our building and outdoor play space are far from any road.
The Nest 2 year olds
Report
The Nest strives to cultivate a fun and nurturing environment for little ones to grow and learn. For many children this may be their first experience away from their families. Therefore we do everything we can to ease the transition into the school setting for parents and students alike.

Toddlers are innately curious and deeply porous and aware of their environment, so the teachers in the Nest strive to offer many opportunities for them to develop and strengthen their five senses. We provide multiple platforms for your children to learn through play and exploration across the early childhood disciplines including art, math, and literacy.
The Nook 3 year olds
Report
In the Nook we believe that preschool is a magical time in a child's life. Our children in this class are moving from toddlers into preschoolers and we encourage the exploration, curiosity, and creativity that is so important to this phase of early childhood. You will see in the Nook many stories being read, time spent outdoors, open ended art, dance and movement, experiments, and music.
