The John F. Barnes' Myofascial Release approach (MFR) is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain, restore motion, help with Fibromyalgia and chronic pain management. This essential "time element" has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.

Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.)

Report
The word pelvis originates from Latin meaning basin. What is the function of a basin? It holds fluid. You and I are more than 70-percent fluid. Trauma and inflammatory responses tend to dehydrate the ground substance of the fascial system and ultimately cause symptoms. Restrictions or imbalances in the "fascial pelvis" can create problems locally and throughout the entire mind-body complex.
Treatment
Report
Myofascial Release is a whole body therapy. The areas of the body that are treated are not always the areas where you are experiencing pain. Due to the interconnectedness of the fascial system, restrictions in other areas of the body can relate to your symptoms and must be addressed for true healing to occur.

It is recommended that follow-up treatment is received as soon as possible after the initial treatment to continue with the progress made. The longer the problem has existed, the longer it may take to resolve. Because the goal is to release often long-held fascial restrictions and restore an active, pain-free lifestyle, a minimum of two times per week is the initial recommended treatment.
