Allen Community College

The college was established in 1923, as the Iola Junior College under the jurisdiction of the Board of Education of Iola Public Schools, District #10. The College was designed as an extension of the high school, primarily to serve the students within the district. It was located on the third floor of Iola High School.

Allen's associate degree in History prepares students for successful transfer to university study by providing a solid foundation in history and related social sciences.

With a degree in History, students' career goals may focus toward analyst, archivist, broadcaster, campaign worker, consultant, congressional aide, editor, foundation staffer, information specialist, intelligence agent, lobbyist, museum staffer, public relations, researcher, or teacher.

The president is responsible for the overall administration of the college, which encompasses its vision, mission, policies, academic integrity, finances, personnel, and strategic planning to strengthen and enable the college to meet current and future stakeholder needs.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs oversees Deans and Directors who provide core services such as academic affairs, technical programs, academic support, institutional research, and human resources.The Vice President for Student Affairs oversees Directors who administer financial aid, recruiting, admissions, housing, security, student life, testing, advising, athletics, and all areas of student support onsite.
