Giclee
Report
An Iris Giclee is a newer method of printing that creates an individually produced, high resolution, high fidelity reproduction, done on a special large formant Iris printer. Giclee is a French word which means "squirt" and in the case of the Iris printers, it alludes to the fact that the printer nozzles squirt approximately four to five million microscopic droplets of ink per second onto the paper as the image is formed.
Lithographs
Report
The images below are of limited editions prints by Elaine Estern. Offset lithography requires the use of a screen to show the image and it is recognized by a dot pattern. Fine art printing uses ultra fine screens that require magnification in order to be seen. The fineness of the screen causes the painted image to become more detailed and sharper.
