Highlands School was founded in 1958 by educator, civic leader, and philanthropist, Evalina Brown Spencer. And, every bit as important today as it was in the school's founding years, our school's culture embraces the living principle that children learn and grow best in a supportive, close-knit community, where each student is inspired and motivated by a successful and meaningful early education experience.
Highlands School is an independent school distinguished by our diverse community and a commitment to academic excellence, creative expression, and leadership development. We prepare and motivate students to thrive and make positive differences in a constantly-changing, global world. Our rigorous, well-rounded, and integrated curriculum encourages and celebrates academic achievement and a love for learning.

Meal Program
Report
Highlands offers several wholesome and nutritious meal options for students 12-months-old through eighth grade. The Family Center serves two snacks per day and a hot lunch, catered on campus. Students in four-year-old kindergarten through eighth grade have the option of daily hot lunches. For the 2021-2022 school year, Highlands is excited to partner with Christian Catering.
Summer Reading Plus
Report
Highlands students of all ages are encouraged to read as much as possible over the summer, and students in 3rd - 8th grades have required summer reading assignments. In addition, even though it is the "off-season" we feel that it is important for students to continue their learning through the summer while still having time for the all-important family, friends, and play.
Parents' Auxiliary
Report
Each year, annual officers and grade level parent representatives facilitate these activities. Highlands remained at the very top of my gratitude list last year. I am in awe of the way our Faculty, Staff, and Administration responded to unprecedented challenges amid constantly changing circumstances.
