Medical Marijuana Program
Our Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission-certified physicians help patients obtain medical marijuana for qualifying conditions. We guide patients through the state registration process and verify medical necessity. Treatment plans consider previous treatment failures and symptom severity for chronic pain, PTSD, and other qualifying conditions.
Interventional Procedures
We perform advanced interventional treatments including epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, and radiofrequency ablation. These procedures target specific pain sources in the spine, joints, and nerves using image-guided precision for chronic pain management.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapy program combines traditional exercises with aqua therapy to improve mobility and strength. We coordinate care with local therapy providers and will soon offer in-office 1-on-1 physical therapy sessions for patient convenience.
MLS Cold Laser Therapy
This non-invasive therapy uses infrared technology to treat acute and chronic pain without medications or needles. Treatment protocols involve 6-12 sessions for optimal results, with each 8-15 minute session targeting tissue repair and inflammation reduction.
Second Opinions
We provide independent evaluations of existing pain management plans without communicating with previous providers. These 45-minute consultations explore alternative treatment options and help patients make informed healthcare decisions without creating formal physician-patient relationships.

What pain management services do you offer?
We provide medication management, interventional procedures, physical therapy, medical marijuana certification, CBD products, and MLS cold laser therapy for chronic pain conditions.
Do you accept insurance for treatments?
We accept Workers Compensation insurance for in-house dispensing. Most other treatments require cash payment including physical exams and toxicology screenings.
What are your second opinion appointment requirements?
No documentation needed. Appointments are 45-minute virtual/phone consultations for $350 with no follow-up commitment required.
Are there military discounts available?
Yes, we offer military discounts for qualifying service members. Please inquire at the time of scheduling your appointment.

In the period from 1976 through 1985, I had 2 major surgeries in my lower back. The severe pain after the surgeries has been nearly the same as the pain before the surgeries. I suffered from chronic migraines for 15 years during which time I received consistent care from a neurologist and thoroughly tried EVERY preventative medication as well as a gluten-free diet, physical therapy, Botox, the Cefaly migraine gadget etc. Nothing helped to prevent my migraines, and while I received some relief from various medications, I was suffering greatly on an almost daily basis. Ive been a patient at Comprehensive Pain Center on and off since 2016 but no longer, following a distressing experience with nurse practitioner, Gabrielle Kallmeyer. Ms. Kallmeyer repeatedly cut me off mid-sentence. She yelled at me to, leave the practice, while physically and aggressively following me when I asked the medical assistants to ask the practice owner, Dr. Mark Matsunaga to call me. Dr. Mark Matsunaga might be wonderful to the rest of you, however people born with genetic conditions don't see him in the same light. He was completely and utterly disrespectful as he proceeded to tell my friend that there basically was no resolution for her besides "losing weight." If it was that simple, it would've been done already. She did not go to you to disrespect her... Instead of bashing your patients, if you don't have a solution to offer then politely redirect them to who CAN!!!! I repeat do not go to him if you want REAL answers as well as compassionate care. This is the most amazing, kind, caring and compassionate Doctors office I have ever been to. Dr. Matsunaga actually cares about your pain and problems and finds any avenue he can that suits your needs. I never feel rushed and always feel like I've been listened to. I live 40-45min away but would drive farther for this doctor if I had to

Without a doubt finest practice in the state! From first encounter via phone to in office visit, one is treated with respect and kindness. Dr Matsunaga is one of the finest doctors (and human) I have ever had the privilege of working with. He delivers expert knowledge and spends the time needed to understand me and my complex issues.
