Surf School & Surfer Code of Ethics
Report
Organizations and surf/SUP schools accredited by the NSSIA subscribe to the following Surf/SUP School Code of Ethics. Surf Schools operate in the surf, which we share with the surfers in the water, so we must always be respectful of the surfers in the water, and remain low-impact on them. This means going down the beach away from any congregations of surfers.
Water Safety
Report
Knowing how to swim is the best defense against drowning. Swimming instruction at an early age is a crucial step to protecting the surfer from injury or death. Some areas have a lifeguard "monument" adjacent to the lifeguard tower which provide information on: wave heights, tide, water condition, water temperature, sea pests (sea lice, sharks, man o wars, jellyfish), the name of the lifeguard that's on duty.
