In 2014, Jim and Barb Ballard started looking at locations to expand their winery, James Arthur Vineyards, by opening a tasting room in the Haymarket. James Arthur Vineyards produces a wide variety of award-winning wines, all made from American cultivars and French hybrid grapes. Today, the From Nebraska Gift Shop continues to give small business people an opportunity to market their products.

Jim Ballard had a hunch. The many customers of James Arthur Vineyards are glad he followed it. Jim thought his father-in-law's farmland, situated north of Lincoln, Nebraska, was fertile ground for growing grapes. With his father-in-law's blessing, Jim planted several grapevines with the hope that his hobby would someday produce fine homemade wine, and something to share with family and friends.

James Arthur Vineyards is now in Lincoln's Historic Haymarket. We've set up a tasting room in our From Nebraska Shop located in the Huber Building at 8th and "Q". Along with JAV wines, our tasting room features special events including live music during the summer and before Husker home games, trivia nights, and much more!

This 2.5 hour tour includes 4 Location stops situated in the Haymarket of downtown Lincoln Nebraska. At each stop, guests will get a drink provided by the establishment visited on the tour, a historical overview of the prohibition in the state of Nebraska, historical overview of the Haymarket, and an educational overview of the some.
