About Us
Report
We're John and Sherrie Porth, the owners of Loon Point Resort. Our story began in the fall of 2008 when we took a fishing trip 'up north'. It was a breath of fresh air (literally) to be isolated from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. The air was crisp and fresh with a hint of pine, the waters were pristine, eagles soared overhead, the loons would let out their call and the quietness of the north woods was enough to soothe the soul.

CABIN CARE - The wellness of our guests is very important to us! We have always been very particular in providing clean cabins for our guests. That is just standard practice for us as it should be for all hospitality businesses. Therefore, we go above and beyond in cleaning & sanitizing our cabins.

Hiking
Report
In the 1880s, William T. Joyce came to the area and started buying land and timber. The area was logged in the early 1900s and the logs were floated out through the chain of lakes to the prairie river and then to the Mississippi River. About 1918, the heir to the family fortune originating in lumber taken from northern Minnesota, David Joyce of Chicago, surveyed the area around Trout Lake with the intention of building a hunting camp.
