The South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation was chartered by five private citizens in 1985 to support wildlife enhancement and park development activities for the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks. The Foundation's mission is to solicit and encourage support to preserve and protect South Dakota's natural resources, its outdoor heritage and provide expanded recreation and education opportunities.

The Foundation is an independent, nongovernmental, nonprofit, public501(c)(3)organization working in partnership with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks to accomplish its mission.

The Parks and Wildlife Foundation seeks support for a number of large and small projects to address its mission. You can also choose to Donate Now to a particular current project via credit card. If you wish to mail in a contribution, please visit our Giving Options page for instructions.

The Foundation accepts unrestricted gifts for most State Parks and Recreation areas, wildlife production areas, water access areas or Game, Fish and Parks facilities.If you wish to make a donation toward a specific project or activity that is not currently listed on this website, please Contact Us and we will work with you to ensure your wishes can be accomplished.

The South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation has been working for nearly three decades to conserve our state's natural resources and it has a solid record of accomplishment.
Board of Directors
Report
The South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors and two, non-voting ex-officio board members; the Secretary of Game, Fish and Parks and a Commissioner from the Game, Fish and Parks Commission. These board members provide legal, financial and nonprofit management expertise to help guide the Foundation.
Peter Norbeck Outdoor Education Center
Report
The Peter Norbeck Visitor Center was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and has served millions of Custer State Park visitors over the last 80 years. Named after visionary Governor, U.S. Senator and Custer State Park founder Peter Norbeck, the Center is located across from the Game Lodge and near the popular Grace Coolidge Trail.
