Ballet Arts Academy has been dedicated to providing technically rigorous dance education rooted in anatomical principles and classical techniques since our founding. Our mission is to nurture discipline, strength, confidence, and artistry in students of all ages through comprehensive instruction in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, acro/tumbling, and tap. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board, we maintain high teaching standards while ensuring accessibility through need-based scholarships.Our faculty includes internationally experienced instructors and American Ballet Theatre Certified Teachers who combine professional expertise with community engagement through outreach programs and annual performances. Ballet Instruction
Our ballet program develops technical precision through structured training in classical techniques and anatomical principles. Students progress through defined levels while learning proper alignment, musicality, and artistic expression. Classes emphasize barre work, center combinations, and performance preparation for all skill levels.
Modern Dance
Modern dance classes focus on creative expression through grounded movement techniques. Students explore improvisation, floor work, and dynamic phrasing while maintaining proper body mechanics. Classes incorporate elements from Lester Horton and Martha Graham techniques for intermediate to advanced dancers.
Jazz Instruction
Jazz classes combine technical training with stylistic versatility, covering Broadway, commercial, and competition styles. Students develop syncopation skills, isolations, and performance quality through choreography that emphasizes musical interpretation and stage presence for ages 8+.
Hip Hop Classes
Our hip hop program teaches foundational street dance styles including breaking, popping, and locking. Classes focus on rhythm, coordination, and personal style development through age-appropriate choreography. Students learn both freestyle techniques and structured routines in a supportive environment.
Acro/Tumbling
Acro/tumbling classes integrate dance with gymnastic skills to develop flexibility, strength, and aerial technique. Students progress through safe, structured levels mastering cartwheels, handsprings, and aerials while maintaining proper alignment and injury prevention practices.

Former Artistic Director
Retired University of Montana professor with professional experience from Harkness Ballet School and School of American Ballet. Holds MFA in Ballet from Texas Christian University and ABT National Training Curriculum certification through Level 5.
Colleen Rosbarsky
Ballet & Jazz Instructor
BFA in Ballet from University of Utah with professional experience in Utah Ballet and Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. Certified esthetician and award-winning musical theater choreographer with regional theater credits across the Northwest.
Jordan Dehline Burt
Ballet & Modern Instructor
BFA in Dance Education from University of Montana with teaching experience in MCPS K-5 curriculum. ABT and Paris Opera Ballet teacher training graduate. Co-author of dance integration textbook and certified Pilates instructor since 2009.

Dance Science Specialist
MSc in Dance Science from Trinity Laban Conservatoire with research focus on injury prevention. International performance experience across six dance companies and current teaching artist for Bare Bait Dance's MoDE Program.
Haley Budge Nord
Ballet Instructor
University of Montana BA graduate with international performance experience including Beijing Olympics and Shanghai World Expo. Former lead performer in China's 'White Haired Girl' production and Young Tanzsommer participant across Europe.

What dance styles do you offer?
We offer ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, acro/tumbling, and tap instruction for students ages 2 through adult.
Are there performance opportunities?
Yes! All students participate in annual spring recitals, with additional opportunities through our Studio Company performances.
What are your dress code requirements?
Specific dress codes vary by style but generally require solid-colored leotards, appropriate footwear, and hair secured off the neck for ballet and jazz classes.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes, we provide need-based scholarships through our confidential application process reviewed by our Financial Aid Committee.
How are tuition payments handled?
Tuition is paid monthly via credit/debit card through our secure parent portal system with automatic charges on the 5th of each month.
What happens during inclement weather?
We follow Missoula County Public Schools' closure guidelines - classes are canceled when MCPS closes due to winter weather.
