Support for Caregivers and Individuals in Need
The Caregiver Foundation was established in 2008 by Gary A. Powell, who began his caregiving journey at age 13 while supporting his grandfather. Our organization operates with a commitment to preserving dignity, enabling independence, and promoting acceptance for seniors and disabled adults across Hawaii. We provide caregiver coordination, daily money management, home organizing services, and professional support for trustees and conservators. Our team includes nationally certified guardianship professionals and an advisory board of experts in health, legal, and education fields. Serving Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Molokai, and the Big Island, we offer educational resources, support groups, and practical assistance to over 120 fee-for-service clients annually. We maintain memberships in the American Association of Daily Money Managers and the National Center for Guardianship Certification. Our mission extends beyond Hawaii, with aspirations to become a national model for compassionate caregiving support. We specialize in coordinating personal care services, managing financial responsibilities for seniors, and organizing homes to improve livability. Our programs include caregiver boot camps, stress management workshops, and youth caregiver support initiatives. Through community partnerships and grants, we provide financial assistance and resource libraries specifically for caregiving youth affected by crises like the Maui wildfires.

We also had a bad experience with The Caregiver Foundation. They did nothing for my elderly relatives but charged us for every minute of any and every contact, even a phone call to their office to ask for a bill after a couple of months of "services". At the time we terminated them, they said we owed over $3000 dollars. I asked for an itemized accounting and that's when it became clear that being on hold or talking to a receptionist cost about $60/hour.

Bad memories of the service that Gary Powell provided. I think his daughter will be more sympathetic and caring when she takes over.
