Sequoia Nursery School is a parent cooperative preschool providing play-based learning opportunities for young children since 1947. Sequoia Nursery School, a non-profit, parent cooperative preschool, is located in a beautiful park setting of the Sequoia Lodge in Oakland, CA. We are a community of about 30 families, a director, and a teacher, working together to create an ideal, play-based environment for children to grow emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually.

We have about 32 children each year: half are first year students (3-4 year-olds, ) and half are second year (4-5 year-olds.) The groups are mixed together at all times, and daily attendance is between 20 and 23 children. We strive to provide a diverse environment. We welcome children and families of every race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national and ethnic origin.
Participation & Tuition

As active participants in the education of our children, Sequoia parents learn about child development and behavior as well as how to interact with various groups of children. Relationships with the other parents serve as a network of support as we face the many challenges of raising children and many long-term family friendships are forged at Sequoia.

What is your student:teacher ratio? 3:1. Sequoia has two staff members and 6-7 parents working each day, with a daily attendance of 20-23 kids. There is an informal "diaper club" where parents of children still in diapers agree to help each other's children on their working days. Can my child attend 5 days?
