Rock Martin started his jewelry career in high school. He took one course in custom jewelry design and was hooked. After serving his country in the Navy, Rock and his family settled in the beautiful village of Laguna Beach. Long known as an arts colony, Laguna Beach was a thriving environment for artists such as Rock.
Starting out doing Laguna Craft Guild shows, Rock quickly discovered his unique custom designed jewelry pieces were selling out at every show. In 1968, Rock's custom jewelry designs were accepted into the famous Laguna Beach Sawdust Festival. Many artists and Laguna Beach, California jewelers start by exhibiting at shows, and continue in the same tradition, but Rock Martin knew his custom designed jewelry needed a larger venue.
