Unique recipes strait from Japan! Try any of our many dishes in order to get a real taste of Japanese cuisine. Hiro has cooked Japanese food and ramen since 1986 in the city of Tucson. He makes all items, sauces, and ramen soups by his own original recipe. His ramen does take some time to prepare, and will only be available Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, but it is worth the wait.
Ikkyu serves authentic Japanese food and Japanese culture to all our guests. Beef or chicken breast, sukiyaki noodles, nappa cabbage and onion with our sukiyaki sauce. Cold tofu, seaweed salad served over sushi rice, garnished with sesame seeds, bonito flakes, scallions, and our sauce.

I was very excited to try Ikkya for takeout dinner tonight because I saw pictures here on Yelp of the spicy tuna donburi and I had to have it.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that my meal came with a cup of hot miso soup which I downed in the parking lot while sitting in my car as the rain trickled down the windows.
The spicy tuna don was delicious and satisfied my craving! It came with some cucumbers which I doused in chili flakes. The staff was very friendly and offered me soy sauce, sriracha, and chili flakes to go.
I can't wait to try the ramen for date night soon! I hear it&apos

Ordered the ginger pork and spat the meat right out. The cut of the meat was so poor it didn’t resemble the taste or consistency of real pork to me and was enough to make me throw out the whole meal. Maybe their other meals are decent since they are rated well but I don’t trust mystery meat and I won’t be back.

What kind of sushi restaurant does not serve raw fish? Well, this one apparently. When I pulled up I could see from my car that there were menus outside posted near the door. Next to the menus was a large sign that says "no menus inside, decide your order before you come in". This should have been my first sign to turn around and drive away. But I was hungry and in a rush. So I order a salmon cucumber roll. What I got though was a dry, over cooked salmon wrapped up in rice. This was particularly surprising since the menu did advertise raw fish. I brought it to their attention and was simply told

First, you have to have an above average memory and great eyesight, because they have only one menu and that is posted on the glass. You have to study it, memorize it, and then go inside to get your food. The fellow taking the order was quite rude ...you get the impression that you're doing them a great favor by paying for your own food. They use non-recyclable styrofoam plates and plastics, with no regard for the environment. If there were a negative rating, this business deserves one.

Used to love this place, but no more. Went to order a a couple items to go. Once I paid for my food I was told I needed to wait outside. Well guess what, it's 113 degrees outside!!! I almost left without my food. Honestly I thought I might have a heat stroke. At least put up Warning Signs. "Warning, all patrons wanting food to go need to risk heat stroke". Then, after all that, I go back in to get my food. AND THERE ARE CUSTOMERS WAITING INSIDE! What's the trick. Was I suppose to complain or just refuse to go sit in the oven? Later when I got home. I could not even eat.

Ikkyu offers good-tasting and affordable Japanese food. Being vegan, Japanese food can be a little tricky so I called ahead and was pleasantly surprised. The woman who answered really took the time to answer my questions and let me know the available vegan options. When I got there, she even remembered me and when I ordered kindly let me know that the miso soup, unfortunately, has fish paste in it. I ordered a seaweed salad and an avocado cucumber roll. Both were very fresh- the seaweed salad was a true delight! I'm excited to come back and try something else! My dad ordered a bento box and

Ikkyu is a nice place on northwest side to grab sushi and classic Japanese dishes. For covid they still only do outdoor dining. Some of the best curry you can find here. They also have some hardy ramen dishes (if you like spicy I definitely recommend tonkatsu ramen and you can get it extra spicy on request). I ordered cold ramen and baked scallop. The baked scallop is always good side dish with Mayo and scallops. Keep in mind Cold ramen is only offered limited time so call ahead to make sure they have availability. The cold ramen has a goma flavor to it and topping are good. The meat is a little

We've come here for one particular dish--Chicken Curry! Trying out different places in town and so far, they have the best. It's become our go-to and benchmark for all Japanese curries. The chicken is very tender, the carrots snd potatoes fork tender, and get a choice of white or brown rice. The portions are very generous too! It may not be presented with are and beauty in mind but what it lacks in presentation is made up for with deliciousness.
Anytime we're in the area, we go to Ikkyu where the service is reliable and the food great! Admittedly, we've only tried a few other

75 years old erred getting water, rapidly realized getting lemonade, switched to water immediately. VERY rude server tells her " to pay for her drink ". Could have asked patron if she wanted to switch from water to lemonade, but no, much simpler to aggressively order her to pay. Yukari: There is no excuse for your employee's rudeness. None. I trust the $2.61 was worth 1/8 of a glass of lemonade & insulting a kind woman. After years of being your customers @ River & Craycroft, & wanting to continue to support you, we move on.

Updated for COVID times: I bumped my 4-star review to 5, because Ikkyu is really doing a good job with health and safety measures. I feel very comfortable getting food here. Same great sushi and ramen. See my previous review for details. Note it is takeout only now, which I think is good. Although I have dined in restaurants a few times, in my opinion, many restaurants still allow too many patrons and not enough space. Cutting dine-in service has allowed them to streamline ordering too. There is no more self-serve anything. If you need condiments or utensils, they'll get you whatever you need

We moved back to Tucson after living in Hawaii for the last 5 years, and I've got to say, there's nothing like coming home and finding nothing has changed at your favorite restaurant. I mean, yes, it's take-out only now, and there are some unfamiliar faces behind the counter, but the spicy tuna don (extra volcano style!) is still the best this side of the Pacific (and, quite frankly, it's in the top two if you include the spicy ahi tempura bowl from Tanioka's in Waipahu, Oahu island.)
Fast, friendly service, everyone behind the counter was observing all covid precautionary

I enjoy the ramen , miso soup , & he gets the tuna volcano. Thank you ken & family for serving us great local food for years ( former owners of samurai ) . Always feel healthy & satisfied after eating their culinary offerings.

Not a good experience. My wife and I went here to try it out for the first time. She ordered Ramen and I got the beef bowl and an order of Inari.
She liked her Ramen bowl however I didnt like it at all. Flavor was off and broth felt weak. She gave me the pork from it and after one bite I discarded it. I LOVE TO EAT and almost never discard food... This was extremely bland and dry. Fairly disappointing. My beef bowl turned out to have a long hair wrapped around a big portion of the meat. They dont wear hair nets there unfortunately. I took the bowl up and they took it back immediately and made
