At OCBA, we continually look for opportunities to conserve and incorporate natural beauty with development planning. We believe it is our role as stewards of the land to educate and inform our communities about the benefits of restorative native plantings over manicured lawns, and the environmental and economic value of street trees and natural areas.

OCBA's comprehensive staff of landscape architects offers expertise in parks, campuses, streetscapes, green infrastructure, and brownfields. We can provide consistently great design and execution with our deep expertise across a variety of project types. Our plans optimize long-term positive impacts to the environment coupled with reduced lifecycle costs to maintain and manage the project once implemented.

Focus Areas
Report
Our work on climate resiliency is focused on reducing flooding, promoting healthier landscapes, decreasing maintenance, and lowering the long-term costs of replacing plants due to flooding, drought, and extreme temperatures. We promote biodiversity in plant species so the landscapes we design can provide the necessary habitat and food for insects and pollinators to survive.
Portfolio
Report
Camp Tecumseh comprises over 500 acres of land adjacent to the Tecumseh bend of the Tippecanoe River. An extremely successful and well-established camp program had resulted in a waiting list for summer camp of over 600 children each year. The YMCA of Western North Carolina wanted to explore the feasibility of and develop a master plan for a new rustic summer camp.
Streetscapes
Report
OCBA was retained by the City of Sturgis to conduct a participatory design charrette that would foster community engagement and provide input for the Pleasant Avenue streetscape design. The Grandville DDA Connection project includes construction of a new permanent Farmer's Market and redesign of the existing parking lot to re-route vehicular traffic flows away from the Farmer's Market structure.
