Haskell Well Drilling
Haskell's Water Treatment was established in 1977 by Warren Haskell. In the late 1980's, the company expanded becoming Haskell's Well Drilling and Water Treatment. Today, operating as two separate companies you can find Haskell's Water Treatment and Haskell's Well Drilling under one roof at our Route 90 location in Rockland, Maine.

In 2006, Haskell's Water Treatment was purchased by Steve Willis and Jack Martin, and continues to service mid-coast Maine. Our company installs and services water treatment systems that address a full spectrum of water quality issues. We can install systems that treat less common issues, also. We are here to ensure your well water is safe and free of impurities.
Services
Well Drilling
Report
Owners Warren Haskell and Russell Cookingham are both State of Maine-licensed Master Well Drillers and Master Pump Installers with many years of experience. We also offer troubleshooting and repairs for water wells and pumping systems. If you are considering a geothermal project, we can drill those wells too!
Water Treatment
Report
The hydrologic cycle (also known as water cycle) shows the process in which wells receive water. Due to the type of bedrock found in mid-coast Maine, we often find problems with iron, hardness, manganese, and acidic water. Radon and arsenic are quite prevalent in Maine, also. The first step to water treatment is finding out what exactly is in your well water.
Chlorinating a Well
Report
The first step to solve a bacteria or e-coli problem is to "shock" your well with bleach or chlorine tablets. Chlorinating or "shocking" the well is not very complicated, so if you would like to attempt it yourself we have provided directions below. If you would like us to chlorinate the well for you, please call our office at (207) 594-4947 to schedule an appointment.
Arsenic
Report
Arsenic in well water is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. The only way to identify its presence is to have the water tested through a state certified lab. Maine's state limit was dropped in 2006 to less than 10 ug/L. The State of Maine estimates that 1 in 10 private wells in Maine have arsenic concentrations above this limit.
Bacteria
Report
Ninety eight percent of towns with public water systems chlorinate the water because any water supply, well water included, can become contaminated with bacteria. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends testing yearly for bacteria through a state certified laboratory. Typically, results are known within 3 to 5 days and we highly recommend you always chose to get a "count" (not results with just absent/present).
