My name is Tessa Rasmussen. I went to and graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with the following degrees M.A. English with writing emphasis, B.S. in Speech-Language Hearing Science and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. While obtaining my degree in Speech-Language Hearing Science, I was a literacy instructor for children with dyslexia, which is what kindled my desire to continue working with literacy as an SLP.
During my internship, I quickly found a passion for identifying and treating orofacial myofunctional disorders, tongue ties and the impact on oral function, feeding, swallowing, expressive language delay, vocal cord dysfunction, apraxia of speech, early literacy, and many more. Each client is unique and will be provided speech-language therapy services tailored specifically for them after a comprehensive assessment is completed.

Tongue ties (ankyloglossia) and lip ties are restricted tissue underneath the upper and lower lips and beneath the tongue. They can have significant impact on the ability to close lips or move the tongue tip up, down, left, right or the middle back of the tongue up for correct and efficient swallowing.

We take pride in our work and love to share our progress with before and after pics of our clients. This female client was 8 years old when she had an orofacial myofunctional (OMT) and speech assessment. She was referred by her ENT provider as she had just had her tongue-tie released via scissors, tongue thrust and thumb sucking caused an anterior open bite, speech errors on /s/ and /z/ sounds.
