I am a portrait photographer serving the greater Vancouver and Portland areas, specializing in newborn, family and maternity potraiture. I have been a portrait photographer for over 8 years and have had special training in newborn posing and handling. In addition to being a photographer, I am mother of 3 beautiful children who keep me busy with school, all-star cheerleading, and swim.
There is no time in your life more special than those moments right after the birth of your baby. You have just met this adorable little person but you couldn't be more in love. You want to remember every detail of this new life, but in the whirlwind of getting to know your baby, visiting relatives, and sleepless nights, this time can pass like a blur.
Depending on how cooperative the baby is, we can get in one or two prop shots during a session. Greyson's family chose the woods set as well as the little airplane. And finally one with Grandma too! I don't get to take photos of newborns with their grandparents very often, but I wish I did. This is a photo a grandparent will treasure forever.
This post is how I made a DIY magnetic backdrop system. For years I had been struggling with hanging backdrops on a single backdrop stand. Typically, I would ride the struggle bus every time I changed one backdrop to the next. This can be particularly embarrassing when changing out a backdrop in front of clients.
Swaddled newborns are happy newborns, so I always include swaddle shots in all of my sessions. Pink and cream accents are keeping with the color scheme of this session. As you can see from this post, all of these photos go well together because we have kept with a simple color scheme. If Abigail's parents were to make an album or gallery wall, all of the photos from her newborn session will look good together.

From our initial phone conversation I had a good feeling Gretchen would do a wonderful job with our newborn photos and I was right. She is friendly, accommodating and definitely skilled at what she does. It takes a great deal of patience to work with newborns and Gretchen has it. She created a comfortable and calming environment for the shoot and put not only our son at ease but us as well. The photos turned out amazing and we couldn't be happier!

I have worked with Gretchen three times, and each time she has produced stunning images of our girls and our family. She did my maternity shoot in a Temecula vineyard, followed by newborn shoots for my two daughters in her home-studio. Her attention to detail is impeccable. I had Gretchen take my maternity and newborn photos earlier this year. My husband and I love the way they came out! I'm constantly getting compliments of how nice they are!! Her work reminds me so much of Anne Geddes.

Gretchen is AMAZING at her job! We have been with her since 2013 with baby number one and all our family photos and with our second in 2016 and we will be with her in 2019 with baby three. She just did our Christmas photos and I thought for sure we didn't get a lot because our head strong two year old was not having it the whole time. I logged in today and wanted to cry, ALL my photos were perfect!!! She is very professional and easy to work with. She had tons of props, outfits, hats, and amazing backdrops. Her photography room is heated and has sound machines playing to keep your baby calm and sleepy. She is also very reasonably priced. Make sure to reserve way in advance. Her schedule can get very busy!

Gretchen did a fantastic job with our 1 year olds pictures! She worked well with our family and got some really nice 1 year old pictures of our son, pictures of our two year old daughter, the kids together and the whole family together. We were concerned that we weren't going to get great pictures because it was often difficult to get the kids to cooperate but Gretchen managed to work well with them and pulled it off. Update: We finally got to see the photos from our newborn photo shoot and they are so beautiful! Gretchen is truly gifted at what she does and we are so lucky to have a local photographer with her talent! Despite having been uncomfortable with my postpartum appearance, I thought I looked beautiful in the family pictures. She used forgiving angles and some other tricks to cover the bulge. Gretchen has been taking our family and newborn/kid photos since 2009. She has the experience and the "eye"; she sees things that the inexperienced do not notice and it makes a difference in the photos. That's exactly what you want in a photographer and probably is the reason why she wins photography awards! She has the coolest props for her newborn photos and is always getting new props. I cannot express how happy I was when I found Gretchen Barros Photography. I was new to the area after having my daughter and needed a newborn photographer. Luckily I found Gretchen ! She is amazing at what she does. I loved her pictures so much that I knew exactly who to call when my son was born! Yup, she has taken pictures of 2 of my babies.

Gretchen is amazing! She did my daughters newborn/ sibling photos and I couldn't be happier. The pictures came out great. Gretchen has a variety of props, outfits, head accessories and backdrops making the process so easy and less stressful to me. I didn't have to bring anything just my baby. My husband and I left our session extremely pleased and happy. She was patient and professional making our experience great and our drive from Long Beach to Murrieta totally worth it. I have had two sessions with Gretchen. I can honestly say she is awesome! Both my maternity and newborn shoot with her was easy and you can tell she genuinely enjoys being an photographer. She met us at a park in Murrieta for our maternity shoot and had so many ideas and positions for both myself and my husband to go into and my pictures turned out gorgeous. I am so glad we found Gretchen to take my maternity/family photos and my baby girls newborn pictures. We were new to the area and really wanted someone that took amazing photos and affordable. We definitely found that with Gretchen. She had provided wonderful props for my maternity pictures and props for Newborn pictures. We will definitely be using her again with family photos. Gretchen has photographed me and my family on 3 different occasions. She also did my 30th birthday and got some amazing shots I will always remember. Gretchen is a perfectionist but even if the situation isn't perfect she will make sure she gets some great shots. For example, we did a beach shoot on a cloudy day, the photos still came out beautiful! She is a total professional and pleasure to work with.
