The objective of the Cleveland State Athletics Academic Success Program is to ensure each student-athlete associated with the Cleveland State Athletic Program has the opportunity to achieve academic success while attending Cleveland State.

The Academic Success Program is a guideline for student-athletes and athletic staff to follow to ensure that students are able to meet minimum standards set by the NJCAA as well as the College and to have students reach academic success in terms of retention, graduation and be in a position to transfer to senior colleges after attending Cleveland State.Student-athletes will be required to attend all classes throughout the semester.

On behalf of the Cleveland State Community College Athletic Department, I would like to welcome you to Cleveland State Athletics. You are a part of one of the top junior college programs in the country. Athletes at Cleveland State excel both in the classroom as well as the playing field. You have an opportunity to receive your education as well as participate in intercollegiate athletics.

To ensure quality care for our athletes, Cleveland State will employ a Certified Athletic Trainer. All athletic injuries must be evaluated and referred to our physicians or your physician by our Athletic Trainer. Athletes are highly encouraged to go through the proper channels when an injury occurs.

I chose Cleveland State because I found it to be an excellent and dynamic school with amazing history and traditions. A very big part of that is our athletic program. As you enter L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium, the first thing you see is the Cleveland State Athletics Hall of Fame. The former athletes and supporters pictured there represent the very best of our athletic programs over the past 53 years.

Our college has a 45 year history of excellence in athletic competition, with many of our teams and players achieving success athletically. We anticipate that this year will be a successful one for you personally, academically, and athletically.

The outstanding coaches and staff in athletics and campus recreation as well as faculty and staff across the campus will do all they can to provide opportunities for you to be successful in all aspects of your life as a student-athlete.Participation in intercollegiate athletics is quite an honor and speaks highly of your athletic achievements to this point.
