Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling martial art and self-defense system that focuses on ground fighting. BJJ's main concept is teaching a smaller person how to defend themselves against heavier, stronger, and bigger people. This is done by using leverage and proper technique to apply chokeholds and joint locks to stop an attacker.

Professor Beto

Professor Beto Vilanova is a third-degree black belt with over 20 years of training and teaching expertise in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Beto was born and raised in the neighborhood of Paraisopolis, which is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. When Professor Beto was in high school he almost ended his training to care and provide for his family when his mother fell ill.
