Pewabic Pottery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the human spirit through clay. Pewabic is a National Historic Landmark pottery founded in Detroit in 1903. Today it continues to be an active working pottery, architectural tile studio, ceramic arts education center and vibrant cultural destination that attracts visitors from around the world.

Frost, Pewabic's signature glaze, was born out of a misfire of our seasonal Winterberry glaze. That small batch of pale transparent blue-green mugs and vases drew quick attention, so we decided to recreate their beauty in a new glaze. Frost's cool, dreamlike color pools against the toasty reduction clay body.

Due to the intense process of creating our Winterberry vessels, we only offer it for a limited time each year. This glaze encapsulates the warmth we all crave during the dreary winter months. My children gave me a Winterberry mug for my birthday in December. It is so beautiful. I just love it. In fact, when my husband picked it up for coffee, I told him to put it back, that it was too pretty for him!

A nod to Pewabic's earliest days, when founder Mary Chase Perry Stratton designed lamps as one of our first products, the Celtic Lamp timelessly delivers classic Pewabic style to your bedside table or favorite reading nook. Based on our popular Celtic Vase design and wired and assembled by Michael's Lamp Shop in Lathrup Village, Mich., which specializes in vintage and restoration lighting and lampshades.
