Collin County Emergency Management
Our Master Gardener program in Collin County is an educational and volunteer program affiliated with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of the Texas A&M University system. The over 300 members of the Collin County Master Gardeners Association (CCMGA) are citizens of the local community who not only take an active interest in their own lawns, trees, and gardens but also strive to promote sound horticultural practices in the community.

Members receive invaluable training and continuing opportunities for education, then share their horticultural expertise through a wide variety of projects benefiting Collin County residents and organizations. In 2018, Collin County Master Gardeners logged nearly 26,000 hours of volunteer service to the community.

Master Gardeners in our Information Center would be happy to help you with your gardening and landscaping questions.

Upon request the Collin County Master Gardeners disseminate sound, research-based horticultural information to the public via Information Booths at numerous public events throughout the year. Some of the Master Gardener events we can be found at are The Garden Show, The Plant Sale, Walk in the Park, Edible Gardening 101.
Speakers Bureau

Do you need a speaker for your Collin County community group, neighborhood association or club? Master Gardeners who participate in the Speakers Bureau enjoy sharing their talents and specialized knowledge to help make gardening in Collin County more enjoyable.

Members of our Speakers Bureau are dedicated to sharing well-researched horticultural information and are prepared with a variety of lively talks, demonstrations, and PowerPoint presentations.Available presentations include topics covering Earth-Kind principles and practices, soils and composting, diseases and insects, vegetables, and water conservation practices.
Youth Education
Report
Children love the opportunity to play in the dirt and are delighted by flowers and bugs. There is a natural curiosity about how nature works and children get genuinely excited about seeing things grow. We like helping to plant the seed of the next generation of gardeners. Youth Education has developed several presentations that are geared towards elementary and middle-school students.
Academic Scholarships

In keeping with our emphasis on furthering education, the Collin County Master Gardeners Association awards scholarships for both High School Seniors and TAMU Graduate Students.

The CCMGA awards one annual $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is a verifiable resident of Collin County or will graduate from a Collin County high school, plans to attend a Texas college or university, and intends to major in a horticulture related field such as Botany, Entomology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, Agricultural Sciences, and Ag Leadership & Development.
