Reins Of Life
Centers in South Bend & Michigan City, ROL is strengthening communities through inclusion, education and greater independence since 1978. A NARHA/PATH Premier accredited facility since its inception in 1978, Reins of Life, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted activities.

The original facility is located in South Bend, Indiana. A second facility was opened in Michigan City in 2007. More than 500 Reins riders come from an estimated 100-mile radius that includes St. Joseph, Marshall, Elkhart, Fulton, Porter, Starke and LaPorte Counties in Indiana, and Berrien and Cass Counties in Michigan.

Reins of Life (ROL) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1978. That year, Reins provided 32 hours of therapeutic riding lessons for 16 riders. Classes were held in the backyards of friends of ROL. From 1978-1991 Reins used borrowed arenas, equipment, and tack to provide services to individuals with disabilities of St.

Therapeutic Riding (TR) teaches a person with disabilities how to ride a horse while incorporating a wide range of therapeutic goals. Each lesson is designed to meet physical, educational, emotional and/or social skill goals based on the rider's individual needs. Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) is used to help participant identify, cope, and recover from traumatic events, psychological and mental disorders and addiction.
