Starfish Infant Aquatics is not your ordinary swim program. Within a few short weeks, our students are stronger swimmers than they would have been with years of traditional swim lessons. We gear our lessons to the unique needs of each child we teach, ensuring a safe, effective and fun learning environment.
All lessons are one-on-one with a highly qualified instructor to ensure an individualized learning environment for each child, every day. Kids who finish our program are not only safer in and around the water; they are able to really swim with their parents and have a good time!

About Me
Report
My name is Erin Loewe. Ever since I was a child, I have known that teaching swim lessons was my calling. My mother actually taught as an Infant Swimming Resource instructor in our pool in Orlando years ago. I certified with ISR in Florida in 2007, and since then, I have taught hundreds of children how to swim and become aquatic problem solvers in Tallahassee, Nashville, and now Richmond, where I live with my husband and two kids.
How Lessons Work
Report
Survival swim lessons are held 4 days/week, Monday-Thursday (Friday is a weather makeup day). Each lesson lasts approximately 10 minutes and is customized to meet the physical, emotional and developmental readiness of each child. Each lesson's duration is determined by the instructor, taking into account factors like age, ability, fatigue and physiological health.

My primary focus is to teach your child to become a productive swimmer and floater in any depth of water. The goal of these lessons is that your child becomes an "aquatic problem solver, " so that she is able to use her new skills in many different aquatic settings and situations if ever needed.
Although NO ONE is ever "drown proof, " completing my program will greatly increase your child's chance of surviving an aquatic accident, even when fully clothed!Additionally, I hope to help your child build a strong foundation for a lifelong love of the water. WHAT WILL MY CHILD BE ABLE TO LEARN? WILL HE/SHE ACTUALLY LEARN TO SWIM?

Water Safety
Report
Maintain constant, eyes-on supervision of children in and around the water! Make sure an adult is constantly watching children swimming or playing in or around the water. Do not play/talk on your phone, read, play cards, mow the lawn, or engage in any other distracting activity while supervising children.
1st Day of Lessons

At least two (2) towels, which can be folded so that there are two layers on the bottom and one to cover your child. 2. A washable swim diaper (if needed).* You are also welcome to use your own if it has very secure elastic on the waist and both legs. You may want to add a disposable "little swimmer" underneath if you are concerned about cleaning up accidents; but the washable must be on top!
