Diamond R Kennels has been under new ownership since 2017, but all the traditions have stayed the same. Our labs have gone to homes in 48 states, Canada and the Bahamas over the last 30+ years. Myself (Austin) and my wife Callan, are both from the great state of Montana. I have spent my entire life between Ennis, MT & Belgrade, MT and have been a fishing and hunting guide since 2012 out of the Madison Valley.
Callan's family have been owners of 3 Diamond R Labs and are all avid hunters from Helena, MT. At Diamond R Kennels we don't just breed dogs, we live the life of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts so we understand the needs of you and your family when it comes to a high-quality Labrador. We believe your puppy search is as much about the dogs as it is knowing about the people who raise them. My wife and I have owned Diamond R Kennels since 2017 after purchasing it from family friends, the Rothing Family. After moving twice with 10+ dogs, we have found our permanent home in Ennis, Montana.
Breeding Philosophy

In 1982 the original Diamond R dog, Diamond R Sexy Sophie, encompassed all the qualities Peter Rothing found ideal in a Labrador. Hard working, aggressive entry to brush and water, 'birdiness', willingness to please, and an extremely easy going temperament. Most importantly she had the ability to produce the same or better in her offspring.

Diamond R Kennels was located in our hometown of Belgrade, Montana but transitioned to our permanent home in Ennis, Montana in March of 2019 which is exactly 1 hour away from the fast growing city of Bozeman. All our dogs live in pairs in large runs so they can socialize and exercise all day.
We run them all on 30 acres where they can play, train, and swim and we also have a fenced section with 4 acres and a stream to keep them cool and entertained all day.The puppies are born in a heated room (including heated floors) in ourdog barn built by Austin just for our dogs. We have built this barn specifically with dogs in mind, and stay there while puppies are whelped to keep an eye on the mom and pups.

I could not say enough good things about the yellow lab I got from Diamond R Kennels. Chip has the best temperament and is always wanting to please. He has such a fun personality. Chip's hunting instincts are wonderful which made it super fun when working with him on improving his hunting skills, not to mention much easier!

Diamond R Kennels is found in Ennis, Montana. Our Labradors make for fantastic hunting dogs that can do it all, upland or waterfowl. On your off days, labradors make for great family & home dogs. Whether it's a running, hunting, or hiking partner you want, Diamond R labs are made for it. Our dogs are American Labs, meaning a longer, leaner dog than an English style.
