Questions
What are the benefits of installing an awning?
Awnings provide sun and rain protection, reduce energy costs, enhance property aesthetics, and increase usable outdoor space for homes and businesses.
What types of awnings do you offer?
We offer stationary and retractable awnings, including patio awnings, flat aluminum canopies, blade awnings, and KE Retractable models for residential and commercial use.
Do I need a permit for an awning?
Most commercial awnings and some residential installations require permits. Thompson Awning handles permit applications, engineered drawings, and historic district approvals when needed.
How long does installation take?
Custom awnings typically take 4-10 weeks for manufacturing and installation after order confirmation, with additional time required for permit processing when applicable.
What fabric options are available?
We offer hundreds of Sunbrella acrylic, vinyl, and mesh fabric options in solids, stripes, and patterns, with choices for durability, UV resistance, and aesthetic appeal.
Are retractable awnings suitable for windy areas?
Retractable awnings should be retracted during high winds. Stationary awnings feature wind-resistant frames designed to withstand severe weather conditions when properly maintained.

Started off great they came and did the awning. After the the first rain it leaked bad. They came back out and determined the material wasnt coated with the waterproof coating. How? They came back out and coated it several weeks after we made the complaint. Thought it had fixed it but after another rain it leaked again. We have sent emails and spoke with the owner and he said he would be sending someone out to fix the issue and we have not seen them. I would hold final payment until after the first good rain to see if the awning leaks.

If looking for retractable screens, stay away from a company that deals with Sunesta. Also go with a company that does screens only unless you have months to wait on completion and have months to wait on any warranty work that shouldn't have happened within 6 months!!! Not happy with this company- dealer blames factory, factory blames dealer-who do you believe???
