Musical Morsels
Report
Some music is like a maze; it presents the listeners and performers with deceptive turns and blind alleys. Some music requires logical assembly, like a puzzle or a set of Legos. Some music is more like the calm, unobstructed path to the center and back of a labyrinth. Whether or not you are feeling like a rat in a maze or a hamster on a wheel, you will enjoy following the pied pipers in the Magellan Quartet!
Magellan Journeys
Report
It's easy to think of popular music as being songs by Barbra Streisand, The Beatles, and Lady GaGa, or perhaps big band music from the 1940's. In fact, composers have been writing "hits" for centuries and great melodies have spread through society just as easily in 1600 as they do now. It is fun to trace the connections between Schubert and Scott Joplin, Chuck Berry and Coolio!
Kiokee Quintet
Report
The Kiokee String Quintet takes its name from the historic Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia, where the Quintet gave its premiere performance. The founding members (Ryan Kho and Jonathan Aceto, violin, Carl Purdy, viola, Ruth Berry, cello and Sara Neal Lokey, double bass) are among the top artists in the Georgia-Carolina region; they bring to every performance a wealth of inspiration, passion and shared experience.
