Sugar Bowl opened its doors in Storm Lake, IA in 1905. It began as a local hangout for college students serving the very popular "kistwich" sandwich and drinks from their soda fountain. Sugar Bowl became a Hallmark Gold Crown store in 1952. Always located in downtown Storm Lake, the 5,500 square foot gift shop now sits on the corner of Lake Avenue and West 6th Street in the former JCPenney building.

During this time of the year the Sugar Bowl is always super crazy busy. The ladies that own and run this place always have a smile in their voice and are more than happy to help anyone and everyone that comes through their doors. Their employees are top notch as well. A friendly gift shop that has a very cozy atmosphere. There is a large assortment of greeting cards, kitchen ware, kids toys, baby cloths, and seasonal home decor. They often run specials and the prices are reasonable. Also they do an excellent job at gift wrapping, which is always much appreciated.
