Founded in 1889, Indian Harbor Yacht Club has a distinguished history of yacht racing and boating. Indian Harbor Yacht Club was founded in 1889 by dedicated sailors intent on being part of the thriving sailing community on Long Island Sound. The club's mission was 'to encourage and foster the sport of yachting, the art of yacht design and construction and the science of seamanship and navigation'.

The Indian Harbor Yacht Club is rich in yachting tradition. The Club, with its breathtaking views of Long Island Sound and proximity to Newport and New York, is widely recognized as one of the premier yachting establishments on the East Coast. Critical to the Club's success is that first and foremost, it is a boating club.

At the core of the Indian Harbor experience is a vibrant social and family-friendly community. Activities run the gamut from adult-only, family-oriented to children only. Photos of many of our premier events can be found here. Chalet Chic happens each January giving those not actually skiing that weekend to live vicariously the apres ski life.

A constantly changing menu using farm fresh ingredients and the best catches of the day, complimented by a selection of fine wines, craft beers and even craftier cocktails, provide for the ultimate club dining experience.

Indian Harbor members compete in one-design, PHRF and blue water races in events for adults, women, and youths. Please see below for a summary of the Club's racing activities and associated race documents. Examples range from one-design world championships, national youth championships, many regional championships to intra-club events such as our annual Member/Guest Regatta.
