We are a family owned and operated woodyard, located in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina. Providing the public with quality products since 1994, we focus on speciality lumber and firewood. The majority of our wood comes from local job sites, or even your own backyard. At American Woodyards we do our best to prevent perfectly good lumber from going to waste at the local landfill.
Instead we buy the logs, mill them on site, and provide you with beautiful, locally sourced wood. We have a showroom that allows you to view different species of wood, and decide which is best for your project. Many of our customers come to the yard multiple times a year to purchase a cord of our firewood.

Any project, large or small we are here to help! Our knowledgable staff will work with you to figure out exactly what you need. We offer a variety of custom cut lumber. All of our wood is sourced locally, and we personally select the logs we cut. We offer kiln-dried, air-dried, and green lumber. Customers use our products for cabinets, furniture, fencing, trailer beds, and many other woodworking needs.

If you are looking for a unique piece for your fireplace, stop by and take the time to see what we have to offer. While we have many photos, no two pieces are ever alike. We have two showrooms that are filled with various species and dimensions of kiln dried mantel slabs. To ensure our wood is dry and bug free, we air dry each piece for 8-10 months, then send them through our kiln.

We keep a variety of species and dimensions of slabs in both our showrooms. Every showroom slab has been plained, air dried, and sent through the kiln allowing you to use it immediately for your next project. If interested in looking at our slabs, please stop by the yard during our showroom hours. Found a slab you love, but don't have the time or skills to finish it?
Firewood

True to its name, it has been sent through our kiln, ensuring it comes out dry, and bug free. This makes it a great choice to burn in your home, or an outdoor fireplace. Many people also use our kiln dried wood in wood burning ovens and smokers. We are happy to deliver half and full cords of both kiln dried and green right to your house.

We offer cedar and cypress boards for your outdoor gardening needs. Both of these woods are rot and bug resistant, making them the perfect material for raised beds. These come in 8, 12 and 16 foot lengths, and are priced by the board foot. Please call for pricing. We've got you covered there as well.
