About
Report
Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is to rehabilitate and return injured and orphaned wildlife to the wild; and through its sub-programs, to provide hands-on educational opportunities for our youth and communities in order to promote a healthy coexistence with wildlife and our ecosystem. Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary is located in a semi-remote location bounded by State and National Forest land near McCall, ID.
Black Bear Rehabilitation
Report
Each year Snowdon provides a safe home for orphaned black bear cubs until they are ready to live on their own in the wild. Orphaned cubs are identified and transported to our facility. Once at Snowdon, the cubs spend their days foraging for food, climbing trees and playing with one another in a spacious two-acre, naturally forested enclosure.
Interns
Report
Snowdon offers two summer intern positions and occasional winter caretaker positions. These are typically opportunities for college students studying some aspect related to animals and wildlife, including wildlife majors, veterinarians, biologists, etc. Many colleges have allowed the experience to be included as a credited course.
Education
Report
Snowdon offers off-site interpretive programs throughout the year. Various topics are available including Falcons, Owls and Black Bear Awareness. Programs are offered at no-cost to the public, but donations to cover travel expenses, etc. are appreciated. Snowdon expands its educational reach with the Wild About Wildlife!
Donate
Report
Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary is an all-volunteer organization and is wholly dependent on the generosity of its supporters to remain operational. Support comes in many forms: grants, monetary tributes and memorial gifts, membership designations and other monetary gifts, donations of food and supplies for the wildlife, and donations of volunteer services (time!).
