We are a youth basketball program lcoated in the west valley (Surprise, AZ). We want each member on our team to work hard and compete at the highest level. Players should enjoy being a part of the team. We work on all of the fundamental basketball skills, but we also want our players to learn and understand the game itself.

About Our Program

The Surprise Academy Basketball program is a non profit (501c3) committed to the development of its basketball players. The Success of our program is not measured by wins or losses but by the improvements our players make each season. As a basketball academy we aim to prepare each of our basketball players to play on school teams or Club level style basketball.
Our Story
Report
We started as a group of 5 & 6 year old kids. We played in the local rec league, we started off slow as we were all new to the game, slowly but surely we began to absolutely dominate the competition. Man did we think we were good! We decided to step up and form a competitive team. The summer of 2015 we rounded up 6 kids that wanted to play competitive "real basketball".

We have a unique perspective - our teams are created with the young athletes in mind. We focus on individual skill development with team concepts against tough competition. We don't stack our teams with 14 players, we strive to allow players to development against strong competition. Developmental Teams - The mission of this program is to provide a competitive basketball environment without the commitments of Club Level & Tournament teams.

The Youth Basketball Academy is an intensive skills training program to develop great basketball athletes. Players can expect dynamic drills to help improve their ball handling and shooting skills. The primary goal of the Basketball Skills Academy is to develop skilled basketball players that can perform at a high level during games.

When we were young we played on the streets, outside, where ever we wanted. Boy have times have changed. Today you have to pay to find safe places for your child to play and I suppose that's why the rise of AAU and club teams has increased in this generation. Unfortunately, some of these teams really have not focused on the children and that is where we are different.
