A Notary Public is a state official, who has been background checked, screened and commissioned, to act on behalf of their state. The notary's job is to be an impartial, credible witness, who verifies the identity of a signer(s) via acceptable means and insures that person is coherent, has a general understanding of the document they are signing and are not being forced or coerced at the time of signing.

Notarizations can take place in homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, senior homes, jails, businesses, offices, and even in coffee shops and restaurants. One of the following forms of Identification: Drivers License, State ID, Military ID, or Passport. WA and OR law state that ID may be expired by no more than 3 years.
