Spring fishing in the Buffalo Niagara Region is magical. Given it's the peak fishing period for so many species, the biggest problem we face is deciding which one to chase (that's a good problem to have). Lake Run Brown Trout, Steelhead, Smallmouth Bass, King Salmon, and Lake Trout are all abundant and willing.
Summer

Flip-flops and short sleeves, solid fishing and easy living, that's summer fishing in Buffalo - Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and the Niagara River. Many anglers hang up their fishing gear for the summer in favor of golf clubs and swimming pools - boy are they missing out! The early summer fishing season is a transition period; fish are on the move to their summer ranges.

Crisp air, beautiful foliage and fishing opportunities abound! Fall fishing in Buffalo Niagara Region is rivaled by few other places in the country for beauty and quality of fishing. When the water temperature begins to drop from shorter days and cooler air, King Salmon begin to get frisky. From late September and all through October, these fish migrate up the Lake Ontario tributaries on their spawning run.

Though we have a reputation of being an icebox full of blizzards, there are still some outstanding fishing opportunities through the winter months in Western New York. Many of the steelhead, lake run brown trout, and lake trout that enter the Great Lakes tributaries in fall will winter over until spring.
