Breastfeeding
Report
Breastfeeding is the act of feeding a baby directly from a mother's breasts. Babies are born with a reflex which enables them to suck instinctively, which in turn stimulates the ducts inside the breast to release milk. Pregnant women begin producing colostrum just before having their babies. This thick, nutrient-rich liquid will gradually turn to breast milk over the days following childbirth.
Child Nutrition
Report
Keeping your kids healthy can be as easy as helping them eat right and exercising regularly. Nothing is more important than the health of your child. Luckily, there are simple measures you and your child can take each and every day to protect their health. Eating healthy and getting regular physical activity are the two most important habits for any child.
Child Obesity
Report
Since the 1970s the rate of children and adolescent obesity in the US has tripled. In fact, approximately 1 in 5 school-age children are obese. Being overweight or obese can affect a child's self-esteem and confidence. Most importantly, obesity can also seriously impact your child's health.
While genetics can play a role in whether your child is overweight, eating a healthy diet and maintaining an active lifestyle can prevent childhood obesity and also help your child shed excess weight. If you are concerned that your child is putting on too much weight it's important that you talk with a doctor.
