Georgia Water Tanks is a manufacturer's rep company, providing water tanks, pumps, and filters on commercial and residential projects. As we grow, we look for ways to leverage our manufacturers' capabilities in all markets we serve. Our goal for every project is to "make it work the way everybody thinks it should."

To that end, we provide design assistance, custom coordination drawings, and commissioning on all our rainwater packages. More than commissioning, we provide jobsite supervision, to help all trades learn this "new" concept. Don't rely on sizing based on rooftop area. They are based on rainfall rates in Europe, and do not account for thunderstorms like we have in Georgia.

Rainwater is BETTER than city water, because it doesn't have chlorine. This is one of the simplest uses for the water, and often we can use all the rainwater available just keeping the landscaping pretty.? It's done all the time, but the art has been forgotten in much of the USA. Strain out the leaves and sticks, flush away the first portion of the rainfall, and keep the water cool and dark.

Often, commercial landscaping has an irrigation system, but it isn't used because of the cost of water. What if water was free? How much would a lush landscaping improve sales? Raise property values? In many areas, stormwater management requirements can be fulfilled using rainwater harvesting.

Size the collection tank and surface based on the 1:1:1 ratio. For every 1 square foot of garden, you need 1 gallon of storage and 1 square foot of rooftop. Larger tank or collection surface is better, more resilient. But the 1:1:1 ratio is good. Prefilters can be self-cleaning (Intewa Plurafit or Leafeater) or a basket filter in the manway of the tank.

Cost - Above ground tanks cost approximately 40% less than below ground tanks. Especially in areas of Georgia with rocky soil or high water table, above ground tanks are worth extra consideration.. Maintenance - With a properly functioning prefilter, neither tank requires much maintenance. Maybe every few years.
