Wings Flying Club

Applicants for membership submit their application form to the board of directors who will present the request to the next general membership meeting. General membership meetings begin at 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month at Atlantic Aviation, the FBO on the field. Applicants should be present when their application is reviewed by the membership.

Let one of our flight instructors help you discover the joy of flying by scheduling an introductory flight lesson, more commonly called a discovery flight. You'll have the opportunity to help preflight the plane, taxi it from the hangar to the runway and maybe help with the takeoff!

You'll then fly the plane, do a few turns and hopefully see some familiar local landmarks like the N.D. campus before returning to the airport where the instructor will land the plane and answer any questions you might have about joining our club and beginning your lessons.

How long does learning to fly take? Learning to fly is not difficult, but it does requires study and practice. Federal Aviation Regulation Part 61 itemizes the things you must learn and requires a minimum of 40 hours of training (20 with an instructor and 20 solo) to earn a private pilot certificate.
