Business Details
We are a leading interventional pain management and rehabilitation practice established in 1991, serving patients across Virginia and North Carolina. Our team, led by Dr. Murray E. Joiner Jr., combines over three decades of experience with cutting-edge medical technologies to address acute and chronic pain conditions. As the only independent integrative pain management practice in the region not affiliated with a hospital system, we prioritize personalized care and rapid treatment access, often scheduling patients within seven days. Our comprehensive approach includes diagnostic imaging, lab work, minimally invasive procedures, and post-surgical follow-ups tailored to individual needs. We operate multiple state-of-the-art facilities equipped with advanced tools like spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal pain pumps. Our on-site wellness center offers medical weight loss, physical therapy, and rehabilitation services to support holistic healing.
We emphasize reducing inflammation, increasing circulation, and promoting natural recovery rather than merely masking symptoms. Through partnerships with industry leaders like Medtronic and Boston Scientific, we deliver innovative solutions for musculoskeletal issues including fibromyalgia, sciatica, and joint pain. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to create ethical, patient-centered treatment plans focused on functional improvement and long-term relief. We are committed to maintaining the highest professional standards while fostering a compassionate, supportive environment for all patients. Our mission is to remain Virginias trusted leader in pain management by continuously advancing our techniques and prioritizing patient well-being above all else.

Dr Joiner has been wonderful helping me deal with my lower back injury. Today, I was very unhappy with staff. My appointment today had been rescheduled earlier in the month. I received phone call telling me about appointment today. I told them I had received my second nerve burn earlier this month. Staff on phone insisted that I still needed a 3rd shot. Stopped work early today to attend appointment.
Once I arrived, nurse informed me that I didn't need a third nerve burn and I could leave. She giggled and said at least I didn't drive all the way from West Virginia. I told her that if I had driven

I paid my $45 copay just to be told they couldn't do anything for my foot pain. I guess injections are big money and all that matters. Foot was shattered and constant pain is my new freaking life now. Didn't have to give away my money for that result.

I received 3 facets in my neck . Dr joiner and Dr Howell assured me after 4 injections they would deaden the nerves in my neck after a spinal neck fusion in April 2020. The nurse came in to prepare me for the last facet. She asked why I was there. I told her the doctors had told me after 4 injections I would receive my nerve block. She said impossible because of the metal in my neck. I refused the last treatment. Only a money racket. Lying doctors.

I would not recommend this practice to anyone I know. I was there for an appointment with my mom and entered a very crowded waiting room. I have been with her for most of her appointments so this was not a surprise. I was horrified when a very rude staff member announced if you were given a pager you had to wait outside until you were called. The room was filled with elderly patients most of which were in wheelchairs and walkers. I understand we are under Covid restrictions but to ask a older patient to wait outside in 90 degree weather is inexcusable for 2 or 3 hours !As soon as I find my mother

I would never refer anyone to go to this office. I was seen today by a PA who told me that they didnt help patients with sickle cell disease, which they couldve told me before the appointment was made and after the referral was sent by my primary care doctor. During the visit the PA called me colored which is definitely highly offensive to African American people. He also did nothing but talk and he didnt examine me at all or recommend anything to help my pain at all. This all after waiting to be seen for a hour & a half in the waiting area when I was 20 minutes early for my appointment

I realize this is a pain management business not a time management business(clearly).. but when you make an appointment for 10am and are not seen until 12:30pm and then wait in ANOTHER ROOM for an additional HOUR and claim its because you are "backed up" (because your horrible attempt at scheduling) its very unprofessional. How can you get a medical degree and be so terrible at the simple act of scheduling appointments? Do you guys need new receptionists or a better appointments program?? Either way this place is horrible and I wouldn't recommend unless you have several hours to spare after your
