At Southern Oak Kennels our mission is to produce British Labradors that will be an improvement to the current breed standard of working Labrador retrievers. We do this by importing, training, and breeding only the best in Labradors from the United Kingdom. At SOK our dogs are strenuously tested for health, ability, and temperament in order to ensure that we are producing the very best British Labradors.
Since 2012 through careful selection and training, we are creating a new standard for gundogs in North America. Our dogs excel in both the field and at home. We are a relatively small kennel, and our focus is on breeding the highest quality Labrador retrievers who excel in the field and the home. Because of this, we offer a very limited amount of breedings each year that support our goal of producing the very best gundogs in North America.

About
Report
Southern Oak Kennels is one kennel with multiple locations across the country. We decided to grow this way for two reasons. First, we want to ensure the health of our dogs, and this requires less dogs in one kennel. We do not want to house dozens of bitches and dozens of training dogs at a singular location.
Labrador Studs
Report
When selecting British Labradors for our breeding program, we carefully examine every aspect of the dog. As a general rule, we do not breed any dog that we wouldn't want to personally own and hunt over. If a Labrador has an undesirable trait, their offspring likely will, too.
There are several non-negotiable evaluations that take place before considering a dog for our program, such as sound hips and elbows, a clear eye test, size within the breed standard, a proven pedigree, etc.Once we have checked all of those boxes, we look at the overall personality of the dog. We want dogs who have great social skills, good drive and style in the field, and a true off-switch when not working.

Archie
Report
Archie is a sweet and biddable dog that loves to please his handler. His sire, FTCh Saxaphone Brown Ale of Lincswolds, was the winner of the 2014 IGL under the ownership of Richard King and also received the Drayton Trophy for the most field trial points in the 2014 season.
Prior to Archie's export to stand stud at our Bracken Creek Outpost, Archie won two working tests at the Dove Valley Dog and Gun Test and the United Gundog Breeders Association test.He is a flashy dog with big drive, but he is always under control. Alex and Archie blazed through HRC during his first year in the states, going 4/4 in Seasoned and 4/4 in Finished.

Arden
Report
Arden is a big, loving dog with lots of size as well as pace. He has a massive amount of drive, but he's very calm around the house and kennel. He was bred, trained, and handled by our friend Lee Hayman of Tildaross Labradors. His sire, FTW Copperbirch Ross "Paddy", has a very similar pedigree to some of our original SOK imports.
Cedar
Report
Cedar is Mr. Personality around the kennel. He is gorgeous in every way, as driven as they come, and never meets a stranger. He was socialized, trained, and handled extremely well by Lee Hayman of Tildaross Labradors. He shares some of the fantastic traits found in his older half-brother, Arden. Cedar won his first ever competition, a novice stake working test held by the Suffolk Gundog Club.
