Class Instructors
Report
The Badger Kennel Club is run by passionate volunteers with a wide variety of expertise to share with you. Meet your instructor. Cheryl started obedience with a Golden Retriever, completing their CD in 1986 and therapy dog registration in 1989, actively visiting with Leah until she was 13. In 1987 the first Field Spaniel arrived with the endearing trait of carrying his ear in his mouth when he didn't have a toy.
Classes
Report
Many of our training methods are based on those used by Ian Dunbar, Susan Garrett, Anne Braue, Super Trainers, and Puppy Culture. Badger Kennel Club does not endorse nor utilize techniques such as hitting, alpha rolling a dog, or other methods that can cause undue stress or harm to a dog. If you have any questions or concerns about our methodology please contact the board at badgerkcboard@googlegroups.com.
Agility
Report
Agility is a sport that takes time and patience for you to build teamwork with your dog and learn how to help your dog move through the course. Agility classes are set up so that you are able to take them multiple times and continue to grow and learn with each session. This also means that at some point you may need to return to a lower level to relearn skills.
AKC Canine Good Citizen CGC
Report
All dogs, including both purebred and mixed breed dogs are welcome to participate in the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen Program. This class meets for 7 weeks including the evaluation. Each class meeting is 55 minutes in length. At the end of 6 weeks there will be an evaluation free to all class participants.
AKC Community Canine
Report
AKC Community Canine has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Community Canine title. This is a title that appears on the dog's title record at AKC. While Canine Good Citizen tests are simulations of real world skills, (e.g., dog/handler walks through a "crowd" of evaluators in a ring), the goal of AKC Community Canine is to test the dog's skills in a natural setting.
