Bannockburn Nursery School

BNS values the established benefits of children learning through play. It is through playing that very young children learn to engage with and understand the world around them. It fosters their physical, emotional, social, and creative growth. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are set up to stimulate children's learning through active exploration and interaction with adults, other children, and materials.

Since 1950, Bannockburn Nursery School has had the privilege of serving the communities of Bannockburn, Glen Echo, Cabin John, Bethesda and beyond. Looking back over our 60+ year history, we are grateful for the support of the past and present members of our community who have made BNS the special preschool it is today.

Bannockburn Nursery School (BNS) is one of the oldest cooperative preschools in Bethesda, MD, providing a play-based early childhood curriculum since 1950. We believe in the value of learning through play, with parental involvement - offering rich programming for children ages two through five. BNS is located in the Bannockburn neighborhood, housed in the Bannockburn Community Clubhouse.

As Director of BNS, I feel so fortunate to work closely with our children, families and wonderful staff. This collaboration is truly the cornerstone of our wonderful school community! Prior to joining BNS, I worked as both an attorney and an arts fundraiser. For many years I was also a professional contemporary dancer, and taught dance, yoga and mindfulness for both children and adults for over 20 years.

We want all parents to feel comfortable and welcomed during these first years of your child's education.
