Services
Prevention
Report
Did you know that tooth decay is the number one preventable childhood disease? Prevention begins with good dental habits, the right diet and regular visits to the dentist at a very early age. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children should have their first dental visit by age one.
Ongoing Care
Report
Every examination includes an assessment of your child's developing teeth and any spacing/crowding of the jaw. This assessment is vital to determine if early braces (orthodontic intervention) will be needed to prevent crowding and appearance issues as your child's teeth grow. Sometimes such interventions at a younger age will save you money in orthodontics and painful jaw problems for your teenager later on.
Special Needs
Report
We specialize in providing dental care for children with physical, developmental, cognitive, sensory, behavioral or emotional needs. Some children with special needs are more susceptible to tooth decay, gum disease or oral trauma. Others require medication or diet detrimental to dental health. Still other children have physical difficulty with effective dental habits at home.
Oral Sedation
Report
SOME CHILDREN need to be sedated to allow for successful dental care. This is a decision to be made with full agreement and acceptance between parent(s) or guardian(s) and Dr. Sakhi. Once all have agreed on care involving sedation, it is vitally important that a number of instructions be followed - without exception - so that potential risks to the child are decreased.
Infant Post-op stretches
Report
It is essential that you follow-up with your lactation consultant after the procedure to ensure optimal results. It is normal for swelling to occur in the lasered areas. This will usually go down after about a day or two. The baby can be fussy (up to 3 days following the procedure) and may not nurse as much right away.
