Alaska Hand Rehabilitation
Alaska Hand Rehabilitation is an employee-owned outpatient clinic established in Anchorage, AK in 1985. We are Alaska's leader in rehabilitation of the upper extremity. Our clinic is staffed exclusively by occupational therapists who have chosen to specialize in Hand Therapy. AHR focuses on evaluation and treatment of pain and conditions involving the shoulder, arm and hand.

Our mission is to provide creative, caring treatment and education for our patients and for the community. We are dedicated to helping individuals avoid or overcome an injury and to experience wholeness thereafter. We demonstrate our commitment to excellence through our enthusiastic approach to the education of our patients while constantly expanding our own knowledge and skills.

Who We Are

The AHR staff consists of licensed Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists who, through advanced continuing education, clinical experience, and independent study, have become proficient in the treatment of pathologies affecting the upper extremity resulting from trauma, disease, and deformity.

As new patients, seeing a new specialist for the first time can be intimidating. With this in mind, we've gone above and beyond to streamline the referral and screening process so that you can plan your visit efficiently and without any added stress. If you're experiencing a hand, arm, or shoulder issue, but aren't sure if it necessitates medical treatment, our free screening is perfect for you.

Although we may already have your prescription for therapy, please bring a copy if you have one available. We will make a copy of your insurance card and ID. Our patient coordinators may have verified your insurance benefits prior to your appointment; however, insurance authorization will be confirmed during your visit.

Hand Therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the shoulder, arm, and hand. It merges comprehensive knowledge of the upper extremity with the skills and therapeutic techniques of the professions of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. This specialty was developed in response to advancements in technology and surgical techniques that have enabled the greater functional restoration of injured upper limbs.
Manual Therapy Techniques
Report
Myofascial release therapy techniques are performed to loosen and break up scar tissue in order to restore normal function to tissue. Scar tissue limits range of motion and can perpetuate pain and dysfunctional movement. Myofascial therapy is performed in a slow and precise manner that can stimulate the nervous system.
