Berthiaume's Neversink Lumber
In 1949, George Berthiaume had a vision. Already an established developer and builder, his thought was to open a lumber yard to not only serve his needs for construction projects, but to offer the area a retail outlet to purchase building material for their own use as well. The first location was at the intersection of Barcelow and Owen Streets and featured a railroad siding.

In 1955, outgrowing that location the former Gillen Coal Yard was purchased on Jersey Avenue, renovated into a full-service outlet for building material additional staff was added for the expansion, including Berthiaume's son-in-law James Rohner, Sr. Upon the untimely passing of Rohner in 1961, Berthiaume's daughter Marion joined the firm to handle all the accounting and bookkeeping aspects of the growing firm.
