Born from South Carolina coastal sailboat races in the late 1800s, the Edisto Yacht Club bought and raced its own boat in the 1950s. The club eventually became inactive and the original clubhouse was sold. In 1987, the club was reorganized as the Edisto Island Yacht Club. A set of bylaws was adopted and officers elected.

Even with a full-time club manager, our many members give countless hours of their time as board members, officers and committee members for the club and its events and activities. It is this involvement that promotes fellowship and a strong sense of community within the club and Edisto Island as a whole.
