Family Hearing Healthcare
Report
When choosing a hearing healthcare professional, it is important to understand the differences in the specialists that treat hearing disorders. Audiologists are required to hold a Doctorate in Audiology which includes a total of 8 years of advanced education.
This education provides extensive training for the ENTIRE auditory system, permitting testing to include not just hearing, but hearing processes including the ear and the pathway to the brain. This also includes your vestibular system (balance) which is tied to the auditory system.

Hearing Evaluations
Report
A Diagnostic audiological evaluation determines if hearing loss is present or not. If a hearing loss is present the series of testing will differentiate type, severity, and configuration of each individual's impairment. Conductive hearing losses are caused by outer or middle ear dysfunction while sensorineural hearing loss is due to permanent cochlear damage (inner ear) or processing problems in the brain.
Tinnitus Evaluations
Report
Tinnitus is the presence of sound perceived as coming from the ears or head. It is most commonly reported as a ringing, but can also be described as buzzing, chirping, roaring, cricket, or many diverse sounds. Tinnitus can be caused by noise induced hearing loss, medical conditions, prescriptions, or even ear wax.
