I am an artist, potter, and teacher. I own YUNOMI Pottery Studio in the Smiley Building, Durango, CO. I make my pottery here, and at the same time, offer wheel throwing classes and monthly memberships to my students. To me, the brilliance of this studio is its small size. I have a relationship with everyone who comes through here, and it also allows me time to be an artist.
Before I took my first class at YUNOMI, I had never sat in front of a wheel: I had no idea how hooked I would get to the feel of clay in my hands. Now, thanks to Chyako, an inspiring mentor each step of the way, I can't imagine a life without it. Through Chyako's classes, I have found a new love for the wheel and the process of throwing.

My pottery is made in the way that make what goes inside look beautiful. I aim to enhance the experience of everyday life by providing an object of contemplation. I'm interested in making pots that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but feel good in your hands and stand the test of time. Form and surface quality are always in the forefront of my thoughts.
Memberships
Report
Memberships can be offered to those who have taken classes at YUNOMI given availability. I have about ten spaces for monthly memberships. The cost is $125 for a month per person. The firing fee is 4 cents per cubic inch - this includes the usage of the studio glazes, bisque, and glaze firing. Members can buy clay at the studio at an average cost of $18 for 25 lb.
