I've been to this restaurant many times and had a decent meal. On December 11, 21. Not the case. Won't be back! Made an Open Table reservation 3 weeks ahead of time due to an event downtown. The 2 of us arrived 10 minutes early for the reservation. We were seated and the restaurant was on reservation only, so very few tables were full at this time. Our very young waitress was very rude. She stood over us while we tried to decide on our meal, got upset when we asked for bread that every other table had, and kept coming back during the meal rushing us. She asked if we wanted appetizers

The most amazing Tomahawk steak I've ever had. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly! I love my steaks with a little extra garlic and spice but one of the most amazing meals I've ever had in my life. If you are in Sarasota, you must check out Cafe Amici as there fresh pasta, fish and steaks are the best.

I dine at Cafe Amici upon every visit to Sarasota (every 2 weeks). It is by far the best restaurant in town with the freshest seafood and pastas. Tonight I ordered the fresh Octopus from Portugal as well as the Tomahawk Ribeye. Just amazing which motivated me to write this review. I’ve become more impressed with this restaurant upon each visit and highly recommend! Massimo is also an amazing host!

So we were staying locally and saw this New Year's Eve night which they had no availability but we decided to go back on the Tuesday after and we were not disappointed
We had octopus, burrata and calamari all were delicious
Then we asked if they had or could make puttanesca pasta which they didn't but the owner said yes we can make it oh my it was spectacular
They had a veal chop Parmesan which they made special and it was really amazing you could taste the seasoning all the way down to the chop
The staff and food was truly worth the trip and if we were here another night we would

My first time here, the food was great but.... the waitress was very abrupt and rushed us thru the entire meal. 55 minutes into our reservation we were asked to move to a high top table with our remaining glasses of wine. I had to guzzle my $14 glass of wine so they could clear our table of 3. She hovered over us until we signed our bills. We will not be back.

Restaurant was freezing cold. Immediately after I placed my order I asked for our waiter to change my appetizer, he returned, and said it was too late he had already placed the order (it was only an arugula salad).
Lastly, I ordered Pollo Milanese Milanese-style paper thin chicken topped with arugula, tomato, parmigiano oil and lemon dressing (reason I tried to change arugula appetizer). The paper thin chicken was more like the size of a chicken breast. Needless to say we won't be returning anytime soon. Thank you Alex.

Ate here 2 nights in a row. The wait staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The owner stopped by both nights and was equally engaging. The hostess was also super friendly and struck up a conversation with my wife. What a pleasant experience! Between the 2 nights we had several pastas - black ravioli with seafood, rigatoni with truffle and sausage and another dish I forgot. All were excellent. We also had veal osso buco and lamb. Also excellent. Octopus appetizer was super tender. The restaurant has an awesome wine selection and many excellent wines by the glass (unusually good).

We had made a reservation on Open Table a week ago for dinner tonight. We arrived early and were seated. I always verify on Open Table app that I've been checked in, app indicates "now dining".
I paid the bill and after I left , this restaurant "Cancelled " the reservation on Open Table , as if I was a no show, perhaps so they would not have to pay Open Table the very small service fee.

Great food and awesome service. Greeted in an upbeat and pleasant manner by our host/ server.
I had the grilled octopus appetizer. Wow, fantastic. Have yet to have octopus cooked better than this. Tender and tasty! Bronzino for the entree, another great dish. Short ribs, filet and shrimp were enjoyed by the rest of the family. All great dishes.

Visiting Sarasota for the first time I’ve read some good reviews about this restaurant and I decide to try. We ordered spaghetti carbonara and the plate came full of oil was not creamy and the pasta had thick egg and cheese on it and slightly over cooked so we decided not to eat the meal and told the waitress.I brought the attention to the owner the owner never offered to take the charge off the bill or gave us any options. He told us I’ll pay your bill and leave my restaurant. He embarrassed my wife I. I left $20 on the table for the waitress and we walked out. The place was extremely loud

We were unfortunately late for our reservation but they still were able to seat us which was great. Andre, our server was beyond amazing. Sooo loved all the food. Great meatball appetizer, fabulous caprese salad. And the truffle rigatoni special was soooo good! Will definitely be back! Thanks, Cafe Amici!

We absolutely love Cafe Amici. Its Italian food is remarkable and the service is reliably superb. We have always had a wonderful experience there. The food is beautifully prepared, delicious and sophisticated. The presentation is always lovely. The wait staff invariably treats us with thoughtfulness, promptness and professionalism. We enjoyed a terrific appetizer of octopus and burrata salad while in downtown Sarasota the second weekend of October 2020. We felt very safe dining outside on Main Street with Steve as our server.
Enjoying great Italian wines and two appetizers that were very tasty was a great way to start our evening. The kitchen does a nice job of putting out authentic Italian fare and the service from Steve was very special.

Wow! An amazing experience from start to finish. All employees were wearing masks and there was hand sanitizer available. We were seated promptly and greeted by a very personable server. He shared the specials with us and we ended up trying one for our appetizer. It was perfect ! The focaccia bread was warm and so flavorful, but my favorite was the dipping oil! Both pasta dishes were out of this world! Can't wait to come back, everything was a delight!

Yes, I gave 5 STARS! So, we are Italian and are always in search of authentic Italian food... we will look no further! Excellent wines, and if you at not sure what to pick, ask Maria But the FOOD was, plate lick worthy enjoyed the pastas and fish, the burrata and the lovely shots of homemade limoncello! Maria was a wonderful and fun server, we enjoyed hearing of her heritage and we felt like family instantly! Will return SOON!

Terrible service from our waiter "Massimo".
He mentioned to us that he couldn't serve us food bc the kitchen was closed. Yet, the table next to us (which happened to be our friends that we came with) JUST placed an order with him. But, he STILL said no. I then complained and he came back stating that he would take care of the issue and make sure we get some food. Half an hour later he came out with three appetizers. Take to mind that we NEVER got to even see the menu or order, he just simply assumed we wanted appetizers and chose what we got to eat. We then ate and went to leave
